Held annually on the second Monday in finals, the Most Valuable Player awards are the only accolades determined by players themselves. The AFL Players’ Association Most Valuable Player award has been in existence in its current form since 1982 and is named in honour the of playing and coaching great voted Most Valuable Player of all time, Leigh Matthews,
The Leigh Matthews trophy for Most Valuable Player is awarded to the player acknowledged by his peers to have displayed leadership, versatility, ability to play under pressure, skill and courage, respect for all players and overall value to a team.

The AFL Players' Association Annual Directors and Delegates conference is an opportunity for the Association Executive Board to meet and discuss issues facing the organisation and the wider industry.
In 2010, the event was held at the Sands Hotel in Torquay with over 40 AFL players in attendance representing every team in the league.

The Madden Medal is the AFL Players’ Association official end of year function which honours the outstanding achievements of one retiring individual and officially welcomes all retiring and delisted players to the Alumni.
The function will culminate in the presentation of the Madden Medal in recognition of outstanding achievements on and off the field by a retiring AFL player over the entire course of his career.

A two day camp held in January for new draftees providing you with the skills and knowledge to understand what benefits and challenges you will face during your careers as an AFL footballer.
