Player Relations and Advocacy

Our Player Relations department, led by Ian Prendergast, is responsible for the collective representation of all players throughout their playing careers.

His team offers a range of services which relate to both players and our agents.

One of those is the Player Agent Accreditation system which sets a minimum standard of qualifications and experience for agents and also offers a Continued Professional Development program that ensures our agents regularly update their skills.

This department also provides us with a voice at the table on key matters that affect our employment.

They speak out whenever there are reviews of the Tribunal, playing surfaces, CBA, Code of Conduct, Illicit Drugs Policy and Anti-Doping codes.

They also advocacate on our behalf in disputes that may arise with our clubs or the AFL and one of their major roles is their involvement with the negotiation of the CBA with the AFL which sets out our minimum standards and conditions.

Events

This team runs a range of events including the state based Accredited Agents Forums (January), annual Accredited Agents Conference (July), annual Directors and Delegates Conference (November) and the Continued Professional Development seminars for Player Agents throughout the year.
