Brett Johnson
General Manager - Player Development

Brett has been at the AFL Players’ Association since March 2010. The West Australian fleet-footed midfielder (not really – Usain Bolt is not losing any sleep) played 70 AFL games at Hawthorn/Carlton, and over 175 games of VFL Football, mainly for the mighty Williamstown Seagulls. Brett is a qualified Physiotherapist (hence the nickname ‘Fizz’) and worked in this industry for 2 years before deciding he would like to get back to working with AFL Footballers and assisting them transition successfully into and out of football.

Previously Brett worked in the Player Development Department as Player Development Regional Manager working closely with six clubs– Carlton, Geelong, Hawthorn, Richmond, St Kilda, and Western Bulldogs. Brett is now General Manager - Player Development and is responsible for managing the Player Development Program which provides opportunities for players to enhance their education & training, personal development, and wellbeing, and career transition into and out of AFL Football.

Brett loves all things sport and country music... No need to worry though, Slim Dusty is not on his playlist but Keith Urban does get a good run though.
