Over one hundred and twenty newly drafted AFL players and rookies attended the AFL player induction camp jointly organised by the AFL Players' Association / AFL at the Melbourne School of Sport & Recreation Management, Albert Park over Monday 7th, Tuesday 8th and Wednesday the 9th of January, 2008.

The Induction camps three key themes of Resilience, Decision Making and Communication underpinned all the education for the three day event. This includes the expectations of players entering the AFL and ensuring they are aware of and understand the AFL rules, codes and regulations.

As the first point in an industry wide player education and development strategy, the Induction Camp plays a vital role in the ongoing effort to equip players with Decision Making, Communication and Resilience skills to maximize their AFL football career.

Camp participants also received practical information and advice from experts and peers as well as participating in workshops aimed at assisting them manage the expectations and pressures associated with playing football in the AFL.

Players also received information on the range of services & initiatives available as members of the AFLPA with an overview of the AFL industry and its codes and policies.
