Matthew Finnis
Chief Executive Officer

Chief Executive Officer since September 2009, Matt also served the Association in two roles before stepping up to the CEO role: Manager – Player Relations and General Manager – Operations.

Matt has represented player interests across many varying issues in this time such as commercial rights and individual grievances, and drove the agenda recently to see free agency introduced to the AFL.

With a background in commercial law before joining the Association, other positions Matt currently holds or has held include being chairman of Ladder – the AFL Players’ charity – as well as a director for Surfing Australia, director and company secretary of Surf Life Saving Victoria, and a founding director of HeartKids Australia.
